Angela Marshall, Acupuncturist

18th Jun 2019

3487B139-500B-410A-A7E4-14125A25CAAFQ1 – Tell us a bit about your job?

I’m an Acupuncturist, classically trained in Japanese Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. My special interest is in Women’s Health, Period Dysfunctional Disorders like Endometriosis and PCOS, Fertility, Pregnancy, Menopause and psycho-emotional disorders like Anxiety and Depression.

Q2 – What does a typical day look like?

I love all of my Patients! Most of my day is spent supporting both Men and Women as they move through their fertility journey including those women who are pregnant. It’s great helping my new Mumma’s who have just had babies. I can treat the babies using Japanese Paediatric Acupuncture (no needles) to help these lil ones with reflux or constipation or cuddles (I love the cuddles so they always need lots of cuddles).
I can treat musculoskeletal conditions like tennis elbow or shin splints so can treat the whole person if needed.
I love working over 4 days, two mornings and two evenings, I get a chance to do things for myself.

Q3 – Who would you choose as your Mentor in life (or professionally) and why?

I am so lucky to have had wonderful mentors over the years but my favourite and most inspiring is my Mum.
Mum is a trained NLP & Hypnotherapist so both professional and personally I adore her. I have seen the diversity in her work from helping with pregnancy and natural child birth, use Past Life Regression Therapy to help people struggling in this life and then helping those who need help with addictions like drugs and smoking.
Mum raised me as a single mother after my biological father died so she was both Mum and Dad. Later in life she met the love of her life (for the second time). I’m always impressed that she’s still the most caring, kind and patient grandmother to my children. She teaches them things I don’t have time for (working mum) like gardening and making cupcakes and shares important life lessons as they come along. Truly inspirational!

Q4 – Do you routinely take time out (for you) to rejuvenate or practice some form of self-care?

Definitely regular massages and/or facials (I’m really vain and love them), I’m committed to once a month (locked in) without fail!
I do “try” to meditate daily even if it’s just to pray.
And OH, baths once a week, they’re amazing.

Q5 – Any advice to your younger Self?

“Don’t care about what people think just be you”, I didn’t get this till my late 30’s. If I had learnt this sooner it would saved me so much heartbreak.

Q6 – Most recent Google search?

Don’t judge – Oakley Sunglasses (don’t judge)

Q7 – Any holiday plans?

I’m planning a romantic getaway but our annual trip to Fraser Island is coming up.

Q8 – Book, Podcast or Music Recommendations?

Lost Connections:Uncovering the real causes of depression and the unexpected solutions, by Johann Hari.
Beyond the Pill, by Jolene Brighten.
Latest podcast: The Shift, a 12 part audio-documentary on gut health.
Music – Anything old school 80’s (of course) from Spotify

Q9 – Exciting plans, goals for what’s left of 2019 or 2020 (eek)?

I am so excited, I have upcoming training in Japanese Acupuncture “integrative pathology and hypnosis” this coming July and August so I will be taking time away from Clinic to learn new techniques to better equip my clinical practice
2020 stay tuned!
