Welcome to the first ever Blossoms Blog!
Why Raspberry Leaf Tea?
Simply, this herb is becoming increasing popular with women managing challenges to fertility and wellness such as PCOS, endometriosis, irregular cycles etc.
Women who are currently pregnant, heading into their 3rd trimester and starting to prepare for birth are also seeking out this tea for its health properties and strengthening qualities.
In short, there are many questions being asked by clients that I hoped could be answered here.
The benefits?
Most of you will be, by now, familiar with the range of Love Tea organic blends that are available for purchase through Blossoms (including Raspberry Leaf). So I asked Emma Watson from the Love Chai Love Tea Team, if she would mind providing us with some notes regarding the blend. Emma is co-owner of Love Tea, a Naturopath and mother, working out of Melbourne (thanks Emma).
Raspberry Leaf
“This blend is traditionally used during the 3rd trimester of pregnancy to strengthen and tone the uterus, in preparation for childbirth.
It has also been used after childbirth, to help the uterus return to normal and promote recovery. Raspberry leaf is also rich in vitamins and minerals including Iron, magnesium and calcium, which are important for pregnant women, to help nourish Mother and baby.
Raspberry leaf tea is not just for the pregnant woman. This chlorophyll rich and nutrient rich herb has a wide range of benefits for any tea drinker. (As mentioned before, Raspberry Leaf Tea is) rich in Magnesium, Iron and Calcium, among many other nutrients, this tea is replenishing and nutrient dense.
You may think you get enough of these important nutrients from the foods you consume, but soil is often depleted of many of these minerals and Raspberry Leaf Tea is a great way to soak up some extra goodness. Raspberry Leaf Tea is caffeine free and an easy and gentle way to bring this herb into your diet.
If you are not a fan of the taste, try blending it with peppermint tea or spearmint tea. A nutritious tea, that your body will love!” Emma Watson.

An interesting article I found on wellnessmama.com includes the following citations prepared by an organisation called Mountain Rose Herbs who have a significant following in the USA. I thought to include the whole piece as it refers to a published article from the Australian College of Midwives Journal.
“According to Mountain Rose Herbs: “Raspberry leaf tea has been used for centuries as a folk medicine to treat canker sores, cold sores, and gingivitis in persons of all ages and anemia, leg cramps, diarrhea, and morning sickness in pregnant women, and as a uterine relaxant. Commentators frequently state that recent scientific research found no benefit in raspberry tea for expectant mothers, but this is not correct. The study published in the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health in 2001 found that women who drank raspberry leaf tea had shorter labor, and fewer of their babies were delivered by forceps. The other study, published in the Australian College of Midwives Journal, cited in The Natural Pharmacist as saying there was “no” benefit to the herb for pregnant women, actually stated: “The findings also suggest ingestion of the drug might decrease the likelihood of pre and post-term gestation. An unexpected finding in this study seems to indicate that women who ingest raspberry leaf might be less likely to receive an artificial rupture of their membranes, or require a caesarean section, forceps or vacuum birth than the women in the control group.” In other words, scientific studies show that drinking raspberry tea actually is beneficial during pregnancy.”
**Remember lovely readers, if you are unsure, you should check with your Midwife or Health/Medical Professional before venturing into something new.
Why Love Chai, Love Tea blends?
Beautiful certified organic tea blends (including Raspberry Leaf), are available for purchase when you head in for a treatment. They’re prepared and sourced by Emma and the Team at Love Tea (many of you would have at least one of their blends at home with you by now).
I was attracted to Love Tea as they are a small Australian business, based in Melbourne, who clearly have a genuine love of tea and happen to blend a genuinely beautiful cup of tea!
